ONLINE /COMPUTER BASED AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION PROGRAMS (PALS, ACLS, BLS for HCP, Heartsaver AED, First Aid) The American Heart Association (AHA) has developed online courses and/or CD-based courses (see below) for ACLS, PALS, BLS Healthcare Provider Renewal as well as First Aid and Layperson CPR credentialing. Once the online course is completed, the student has sixty (60) days to from the date of completion to complete the skills testing portion of the course with ALS Affiliates Inc. The cost of the skills testing portion for BLS and First Aid is $25, both for $30. The cost of the skills testing portion for ACLS is $50; PALS $75 HeartCode PALS, Part 1 CD - Available direct from ALS Affiliates Inc., Parts 1,2 & 3 package—$200HeartCode PALS Part 1 is a self-directed, interactive, CD-based product intended for healthcare professionals who require a PALS Provider course completion card, as well as nurses and emergency medical services personnel seeking continuing education credit. Using eSimulation technology, the program presents 12 realistic hospital-based, pediatric patient cases that teach healthcare providers to evaluate and manage seriously ill infants and children. Students interact with the program to assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan -- based on the PALS algorithm and the most recent American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC -- and provide treatment in a virtual setting. Students who successfully complete the cognitive component (Part 1 CD), followed by successful skills practice and testing (Parts 2 and 3) with a PALS instructor, receive an American Heart Association PALS Provider course completion card. HeartCode PALS Part 1 is approved for Continuing Education Credit for nurses and emergency medical services personnel. Students have access to the course for one year from initial license activation, allowing them to refresh their skills. This is a single-use product. HeartCode ACLS Part 1 Online (80-1516)HeartCode™ ACLS Part 1, through interactive case-based micro-simulation technology, this course teaches: recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicated resuscitation outcomes; management of cardiac arrest until return of spontaneous circulation, termination of resuscitation, or transfer of care; recognition of life threatening clinical situations such as stroke; identification and treatment of ischemic chest pain and expedition of the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes; effective communication as a member or leader of a resuscitation team and how to recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance; basic life support care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating an AED; CME/CE/CEH credits offered for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists and EMTs/paramedics. This online course is Part 1 of Healthcare Provider Certification. It provides a review for healthcare providers who have had prior CPR training. When combined with Part 2, the appropriate hands-on skills session, the online course will meet all the requirements for the American Heart Association's Course for Healthcare Provider.
